What was different about these three people?
One was a scribe (religious leader)
One was already following Christ
One was a person everyone hated, a tax collector.
What was different about the calls?
One said he would follow everywhere but there was no followthrough
One was already following and want to leave to get his inheritance
The most unlikely to follow Jesus, Jesus called. He was the only one that was pursued by Jesus; the others reached out to him.
We only know of one of the three that follow Jesus.
Which person are you?
Do you want to follow Jesus everywhere he goes but are unwilling to give up the comforters of your life to actually follow him?
Do you want to follow Jesus but are too focused on material and temporal things?
When Jesus calls you are you willing to drop everything to follow him? The comfort of your life, the materials of this life. Are you willing to give it all up to follow him?
